As They Grow Older, We Learn to Love Them a Little Differently

It still waits for you to come home. It just takes a little longer to stand up.

It used to be the first one running to the door to welcome you home. Now, it still waits for you, but standing up takes a little longer than before. It used to jump onto the sofa effortlessly. Now, it pauses and looks at the sofa as if thinking. A single toy ball used to keep it entertained all afternoon. Now, it prefers to quietly lie by your feet.

Many owners say: “It is just getting old.” Maybe that is true. But perhaps, there are also more important changes quietly happening.

01 · What pet parents are really worried about

They won’t tell you: today they have less appetite, sleep more, and move less. You can feel they’ve changed, but it’s hard to put into words. Is sleeping more normal? Should we worry if it drinks less water recently? Is reduced activity caused by hot weather, or are its joints becoming uncomfortable?

These questions are difficult to answer based only on one day’s behaviour. Every pet has a different age, breed, lifestyle and physical condition. Often, we rely on feelings, but feelings cannot record time.

02 · The question no one asks out loud

Are these changes just part of aging, or is the body trying to wake us up? When a veterinarian asks “What changes have you noticed recently?”, many owners pause for a few seconds. We may only remember that it sleeps more or plays less than before, but it is difficult to explain when the change started or how long it has lasted.

This does not mean we do not care enough. It is simply impossible for anyone to remember every single day from months ago.

03 · What senior pets truly need is continuous attention

Many chronic conditions develop gradually. Activity levels may slowly decrease, sleeping time may increase, and weight and drinking habits may quietly change. Long-term trends help owners identify important changes earlier.

What truly matters is what has changed compared with yesterday, and what has changed compared with last month. If we could know every day whether activity levels are decreasing, whether sleep patterns are changing continuously, caring for a pet growing older could become more calm and confident.

04 · This is what Paw Promise wants to do

The beginning of Paw Promise came from a simple question: How can we help owners truly understand their pets’ daily changes?

Smart devices can continuously record activity, sleep, drinking, weight and behavioural data. Paw Promise hopes to transform this information into understandable health trends, regular reports and daily recommendations. The device records, the data system identifies trends, and health services provide explanations.

Paw Promise is more than a smart pet product. We aspire to be the health companion between pet parents and pets. Health management should begin with everyday life — during a walk, a sleep, a weight check, or the moment a pet can no longer easily jump onto the sofa. Paw Promise provides daily health management support and does not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.

Every pet deserves its own health story

No two pets are exactly the same. They have different personalities, ages, lifestyles and physical conditions, and they require different ways of care. Paw Promise hopes to build long-term health records for every pet, helping owners understand what their normal state looks like and what changes deserve attention.

It has accompanied us through our best years. Now it is our turn to accompany it as it slowly grows old. We cannot stop time, but we can learn to see it more carefully.

True companionship is not only growing up together, but also growing old together.
